Healthcare professionals must create a welcoming and inviting environment for all patients. Whether you are a Patient Access Rep or a Physician, we all have a responsibility to develop a positive rapport with our patients to ensure their needs are being met. Hospitals and clinics are often measured by their patient satisfaction scores. A commitment to AIDET can improve those scores significantly.
I designed this scenario-based eLearning course in Articulate Storyline to personalize the learning experience and demonstrate how branching scenarios can be used to simulate a full patient encounter.

For many hospitals and clinics, patient satisfaction scores can drive or hinder additional funding. This funding is often used to hire highly qualified professionals, purchase new technologies for patients, and reinvest into their employees. Post pandemic, I noticed many organizations had lower or declining patient satisfaction scores.
After identifying the problem, I analyzed all the factors that could contribute to lower patient satisfaction scores. The central theme that I found was that patients felt the healthcare professionals were either inattentive or disengaged during their interactions. To address this, I proposed a scenario-based learning experience where healthcare professionals could practice their application of AIDET to ensure every patient feels welcomed and supported during their visit with us.
Using the ADDIE model of Instructional Design, this led me through a comprehensive process of analyzing the AIDET process through an action map, designing the learning experience with a styling guide and text-based storyboard, developing the project with key milestone along the way, implementing the project, and evaluating the impact of the learning experience on the organization and patients.
